APTA GRANTS FULL ACCREDITATION THROUGH ABPTRFE TO THE MAPS FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM IN ORTHOPEDIC MANUAL THERAPY

Cutchogue, NY, March 23, 2017– MAPS is proud to announce that it has received full accreditation of its Orthopedic Manual Therapy Fellowship Program as a post-professional program for physical therapists from the American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education (ABPTRFE) effective March 31, 2017. 
Since the MAPS Orthopedic Manual Therapy Fellowship Program was granted Candidacy status by ABPTRFE in May 2016, a total of 20 Fellows in Training have been admitted into the program.  Those Fellows in Training, as well as those accepted in the future, are now assured that upon successful completion of the MAPS OMT Fellowship Program, they will be accepted as a fully credentialed Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Therapists (AAOMPT). 
Fellowship in AAOMPT is recognized worldwide as the highest level of clinical excellence by both the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and the International Federation of Orthopedic Manipulative Therapists (IFOMPT). 


“MAPS is honored to be able to provide an ABPTRFE accredited Fellowship program designed to enable busy rehabilitation professionals to obtain an elite level of manual therapy training without having to leave their current employment or uproot their families.


The MAPS Fellowship Program’s mission is to provide advanced orthopedic manual physical therapy instruction in the patient-centered Maitland-Australian approach, training clinicians in advanced clinical reasoning, and hands-on psychomotor skills guided by the current best evidence.  The ultimate aim is to produce Fellows who are leaders in Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy, both in the clinic and in research, who may capably contribute to advancements in the field of orthopedic manual physical therapy.

MAPS has been a leading provider of clinical education for rehabilitation professionals since 1985 and has awarded over 800 physical therapists with their Certification in Orthopedic Manual Therapy (COMT).  MAPS faculty are passionate and committed leaders and clinicians in orthopedic manual therapy, accomplished contributors to clinical research (over 185 articles and counting to date) and highly-experienced educators.  The Maitland-Australian approach is a patient-centered philosophy that MAPS has dedicated itself to for more than 30 years.

BREAKING NEWS: ABPTRFE GRANTS CANDIDACY FOR MAPS ORTHOPEDIC MANUAL THERAPY FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM

Riverhead, NY, April 29, 2016– MAPS announces at its 2016 Symposium, “Clinical Expertise: The Essence of Manual Therapy” that it’s Orthopedic Manual Therapy Fellowship Program was granted Candidacy status by ABPTRFE and will be accepting applications through the Residency/Fellowship Centralized Application System (RF-PTCAS) starting May 15, 2016.
